Pre-insulated Bimetallic Lugs CPTAU

CPTAU Series Pre-insulated Bimetallic Lugs are advanced electrical termination fittings engineered to connect low-voltage insulated aluminium Aerial Bundled Conductors (A.B.C.) to copper equipment terminals, switchgears, or transformer bushings. By combining state-of-the-art friction-welding metallurgy with factory-applied heavy insulation, the CPTAU series delivers a fully watertight, corrosion-free, and mechanically secure interface for stripped conductors, guaranteeing total network enclosure integrity.

Features

Friction-Welded Bimetallic Matrix

Features a high-purity aluminium barrel solid-phase friction-welded to a heavy-duty copper palm. This elite metallurgical transition permanently eliminates galvanic corrosion at the aluminum-to-copper grid interface.

Factory Pre-Insulated Sleeve

Encased in a rugged, UV-stabilized thermoplastic sleeve. The pre-insulated body guarantees total dielectric protection and absolute touch-safety for operators during synchronized energized network routing.

Stripped Core Hermetic Sealing

Requires precise stripping of the conductor core before insertion. Upon hexagonal crimping, the integrated elastomeric rubber rings compress forcefully against the remaining cable jacket, forming a permanent, gas-tight, and waterproof barrier against rain and humidity.

Pre-Filled Contact Grease

The internal aluminium barrel is factory-filled with specialized silica contact grease. This compound penetrates the wire strand oxide layers upon compression, drastically lowering electrical contact resistance.

Implementation Instructions

Step 1: Wire Stripping & Insertion

Carefully strip the insulation from the end of the aluminum conductor to the exact depth indicated on the lug body. Insert the stripped core straight through the internal rubber sealing rings of the CPTAU barrel until it hits the inner mechanical stop.

Step 2: Sequential Hexagonal Crimping

Position a compatible hydraulic crimping tool outfitted with the specified hexagonal die onto the insulated sleeve. Execute crimping strokes starting sequentially from the marked line closest to the palm toward the cable end.

Step 3: Terminal Bolt Securing

Once compression is finalized, align the flat solid copper palm with the equipment hook or bushing terminal. Tighten the mounting bolt to the standard utility torque rating to establish a permanent network node.

Step 4: Live-Line Safe Crimping Operation

Thanks to the factory-molded pre-insulated sleeve, CPTAU lugs are exceptionally qualified for safe live-line (hot-line) handling. However, because the cable core must be stripped during insertion, linesmen must use fully insulated hydraulic compression pumps and die tools when compressing the sleeve under energized network states to eliminate any risk of short circuits.

Industrial Engineering & Standards

  • Premium Metallurgy Gradients: Fabricated from pure aluminium for optimal line conductivity, coupled via high-tech welding with heavy-gauge industrial copper plates.
  • Rigorous Compliance Standards: Fully designed, batch-tested, and certified to meet the strict performance and environmental aging criteria of NF C 33-021 and EN 50483-4 overhead utility regulations.
  • 6kV Underwater Dielectric Safety: Maintains outstanding dielectric isolation integrity, successfully passing severe breakdown tests exceeding 6 kV while completely submerged in water.
