Insulation Piercing Connectors CPB

CPB Series Insulation Piercing Connector with Cover is a premium, internationally recognized utility solution designed to establish high-conductivity branch connections in low-voltage overhead networks. Combining a high-strength metallic piercing core with a heavy-duty, fully encapsulated insulating cover, the CPB series provides uncompromised electrical contact and a secondary line of defense against severe weather, environmental pollutants, and accidental flashovers.

Features

Dual-Layer Fully Encapsulated Protection

Features a rugged, independent outer protective cover that completely encloses the metallic piercing assembly. This heavy-duty shielding delivers outstanding mechanical defense and maximum weatherproofing.

Precision Torque Shear Technology

Equipped with a calibrated potential-free shear head screw. The hex head snaps off cleanly once the optimal contact pressure is achieved, ensuring full insulation penetration without damaging the wire cores.

High-Performance Metallurgy Core

The internal clamping jaw features high-conductivity teeth optimized for stable electrical transfer, resisting thermal cycling and preventing voltage drops in main-to-branch connections.

Integrated Sealing & Anti-Oxidation

The piercing teeth and wire channels are pre-filled with professional-grade synthetic compound grease, creating a gas-tight, oxidation-free contact interface that completely blocks moisture ingress.

Implementation Instructions

Step 1: Conductor Alignment & Tightening

Place the main and branch conductors into their designated grooves on the metallic piercing core. Tighten the single shear bolt with an insulated spanner until the calibrated head snaps off.

Step 2: Outer Cover Encapsulation

Open the weather-resistant plastic protective cover. Insert the fully-tightened CPB metallic connector assembly directly into the molded chamber, ensuring the wires align with the flexible side outlets.

Step 3: Secure Snap-Locking

Firmly snap the protective cover halves together until the heavy-duty locking tabs click into place. Verify that the flexible end caps seal tightly around the entering cables to secure complete environmental protection.

Step 4: Live-Line Protective Enclosure Operation

Thanks to the completely potential-free shear bolt and the supplementary outer cover, the CPB series is exceptionally safe for live-line (hot-line) operations. However, linesmen must ensure that the outer plastic cover is full snapped and locked to guarantee complete waterproofing and flashover prevention before leaving the pole site.

Industrial Engineering & Standards

  • Rugged Materials: The outer protective cover is molded from high-impact, UV-stabilized engineering polymer that resists thermal aging, environmental tracking, and harsh outdoor exposure.
  • Standard Compliance: Fully designed, manufactured, and qualified to comply with the performance and testing benchmarks of NF C 33-020 and EN 50483 standards.
  • 6kV Dielectric Stability: Delivers superior flashover isolation; the entire fully-covered CPB component successfully maintains a dielectric breakdown threshold greater than 6 kV when tested submerged in water.
