Aluminium Parallel Groove Clamps

ALPG Series Aluminium Parallel Groove Clamps are heavy-duty, utility-grade overhead grid connectors engineered to establish reliable, non-tension tap, splice, and jump connections between parallel aluminium-based conductors (AAC, AAAC, and ACSR). Forged entirely from premium-grade structural aluminium alloy, the ALPG architecture provides an identical metallurgical environment for the conductors. This zero-copper layout completely eliminates the risk of galvanic corrosion while delivering low contact resistance and high current conductivity across low-to-medium voltage utility networks.

Features

High-Strength Forged ALPG Alloy Body

Precision hot-forged from structural-grade, high-conductivity aluminium alloy. This rugged metal composition provides the ALPG chassis with exceptional yield strength, structural elasticity, and natural immunity to atmospheric rust, preventing dynamic stress cracking under heavy wind-shear vibrations.

Serrated Mechanical Contact Grooves

The internal parallel channels of the ALPG matrix are precision-machined with sharp cross-serrations. When the bolts are torqued down, these metallic teeth easily break through the stubborn natural oxide skin of the aluminium strands, securing a pristine metal-to-metal electrical interface immediately.

High-Torque Hot-Dip Galvanized Bolting

Secured by heavy-duty hot-dip galvanized steel bolts paired with pressure-distributing spring washers. This structural layout maintains constant, high-tonnage residual clamping force, absorbing environmental thermal expansion cycles without torque creep.

Clean Dry-Application Engineering

Calibrated for clean, rapid out-of-the-box field implementation. The dry, ungreased channel paths of the ALPG series are smoothly deburred and finished, eliminating sticky chemical compound mess during overhead operations while providing an uncompromised electrical connection profile.

Implementation Instructions

Step 1: Conductor Channel Seating

Back off the high-tensile steel bolts to separate the upper ALPG pressure pad. Lay the main aluminium conductor and the parallel aluminium branch/tap line cleanly and straight inside their respective matching groove channels.

Step 2: Symmetrical Clamp Pre-Staging

Place the top clamping pad squarely over the conductor matrix. Hand-tighten the bolt assemblies sequentially to ensure the aluminium cable strands seat evenly inside the machined serrated channels without overlapping or shifting out of position.

Step 3: Calibrated Torque Lock

Deploy a certified mechanical torque wrench to tighten the bolts in an alternating pattern. Apply the exact utility-specified mechanical torque to fully compress the spring washers flat, finalizing a permanent, non-reversible ALPG grid connection node.

Step 4: High-Load Mechanical Torque & Hot-Line Safety

Because ALPG parallel groove clamps are fully conductive exposed metallic assemblies, linesmen must maintain rigorous clearance protocols when carrying out termination sequences near active lines. Fully insulated torque wrenches, approved high-voltage safety gloves, and safety goggles are highly mandatory to prevent accidental phase short circuits or arc tracking during field distribution cross-overs.

Industrial Engineering & Standards

  • Premium Metallurgical Integrity: Forged from structural-grade aluminium matrix ($99.5\%$ pure) that delivers premium mechanical strength combined with exceptional natural thermal dissipation and current-carrying coefficients.
  • Rigid Code Compliance: Thoroughly design-qualified, mechanically stress-tested, and fully certified to meet or exceed the demanding criteria of international grid codes including IEC 61238-1 and standard global utility specifications.
  • Thermal Expansion Cushion: The natural material elasticity of the wrought ALPG aluminium body matches the conductor strands perfectly. This identical thermal coefficient prevents loose joints or mechanical torque failure during intense electrical load fluctuations or tropical climate heatwaves.
