Pre-insulated Aluminium Sleeves MJPT E173

MJPT E173 Series Pre-insulated Aluminium Sleeves are heavy-duty, utility-grade compression connectors engineered for the inline mechanical splicing and high-current electrical coupling of low-voltage overhead main distribution lines. Explicitly designed for large-cross-section Aerial Bundled Conductors (A.B.C.), these trunkline sleeves ensure an uncompromised, permanent electrical node and superior mechanical tensile retention under extreme grid loads.

Features

Heavy-Duty Trunkline Performance

Specifically structural-engineered to spliced heavy-gauge distribution lines ranging from 16mm2 up to 150mm2. Built to carry continuous full network currents and massive thermal cycling without generating electrical hot spots.

E173 Calibrated Compression Matrix

Machined to flawless dimensional tolerances conforming strictly to standard utility hydraulic tool matrices. It seamlessly pairs with heavy E173 (17.3 mm) hexagonal compression dies for balanced, high-tonnage mechanical retention.

Factory Pre-Insulated Hermetic Shell

Encased in a rugged, high-impact thermoplastic sleeve outfitted with heavy elastomeric rubber rings. This factory-applied outer block guarantees total touch-safety and establishes a permanent waterproof seal against harsh outdoor environments.

Oxide-Scouring Contact Grease

The interior core aluminum tube is pre-filled with high-viscosity silica contact grease containing specialized particles. Upon hydraulic compression, it forcefully ruptures the internal wire oxide layer to maintain an ultra-low contact resistance.

Implementation Instructions

Step 1: Stripping & Color-Code Matching

Strip the cable insulation according to the exact depth guide stamped on the sleeve housing. Identify the compatible wire range 16mm2 to 150mm2 by verifying the color of the front plastic sealing caps before inserting the conductor past the internal rubber rings.

Step 2: High-Tonnage Hydraulic Crimping

Fit a hydraulic crimping tool with the designated E173 die size. Execute the sequential compressions firmly along the sleeve body, moving strictly from the center stamped alignment marks outward toward both wire tips.

Step 3: Sealed Interface Inspection

Wipe away any excess contact grease extruded past the entry caps during high-pressure crimping. Ensure the integrated rubber sealing lips tightly clasp the raw cable jacket to guarantee total water-tightness.

Step 4: High-Current Network Safety Operation

Although the MJPT sleeve provides an insulated polymer body, linesmen must remember that the cable cores are completely stripped of their insulation inside the chamber. When carrying out repairs or line extensions within active grid compartments, fully insulated hydraulic pumps, specialized dies, and voltage-rated safety gloves must be used to eliminate any risk of short circuits.

Industrial Engineering & Standards

  • Premium Core Metallurgy: Fabricated with an elite pure aluminium metallic core to ensure optimal current density and excellent tensile ductility across main trunk runs.
  • Full Utility Code Compliance: Extensively qualified and thoroughly batch-certified according to the demanding mechanical tension, thermal, and climatic aging standards of NF C 33-021 and EN 50483-4.
  • 6kV Dielectric Submerged Test: Engineered to deliver robust flashover isolation security, successfully maintaining a dielectric breakdown threshold greater than 6 kV even when submerged in a rigorous laboratory water bath.
