Pre-insulated Aluminium Sleeves MJPB E140

MJPB E140 Series Pre-insulated Aluminium Sleeves are elite compression connectors engineered for the mechanical splicing and electrical coupling of low-voltage insulated aluminium service lines and street lighting conductors. Explicitly designed to comply with standard European tool specifications, these mini-junction sleeves allow utility technicians to create fully insulated, structurally secure, and watertight inline splices directly on overhead Aerial Bundled Conductor (A.B.C.) networks.

Features

Factory Pre-Insulated Elastomeric Shell

Encased in a rugged, weather-proof thermoplastic sleeve outfitted with high-density rubber seals. The pre-insulated casing ensures total touch-safety and eliminates the need for messy outdoor insulation tape wrapping after compression.

E140 Calibrated Compression Modulus

Machined to perfect industrial dimensional tolerances conforming to standard utility crimping matrices. It seamlessly pairs with standard hexagonal compression dies (such as E140 / E173) for balanced, distortion-free mechanical retention.

Oxide-Penetrating Contact Grease

The internal high-conductivity aluminum tube is factory-prefilled with specialized silica-based contact grease, which actively penetrates aluminum oxide layers upon crimping to ensure an ultra-low resistance electrical node.

Color-Coded Sealing Caps

Features distinct color-coded plastic sealing plugs on both cable entry ports. These caps prevent contact grease from leaking during transport while providing immediate visual verification of compatible cable cross-sections.

Implementation Instructions

Step 1: Wire Stripping & Insertion

Strip the cable insulation according to the depth guide marked on the sleeve body. Push the stripped conductor straight through the color-coded plastic seal of the MJPB sleeve until it hits the inner central block.

Step 2: Sequential Hexagonal Crimping

Mount a compatible mechanical or hydraulic crimping tool with the designated E140 die. Compress the insulated sleeve sequentially, following the stamped arrows from the center outward toward the wire ends.

Step 3: Flashover Check

Wipe away any excess contact grease that may have been extruded past the internal elastomeric rings. Verify that the rubber sealing rings tightly enclose the entering cable insulation to guarantee total water-tightness.

Step 4: Live-Line Service Crimping Safety

Thanks to the robust polymer insulation block, MJPB sleeves are safe for handling adjacent to energized equipment. However, because the cable core must be stripped during insertion, linesmen must use fully insulated tools and proper gloves to prevent accidental short circuits or arcing if working within a live grid compartment.

Industrial Engineering & Standards

  • Premium Material Compositions: Fabricated with a pure aluminium metallic core for optimum current density, bundled within a UV-stabilized, high-impact engineered polymer housing.
  • Strict Standard Compliance: Fully tested, qualified, and certified to meet the demanding performance, structural fatigue, and climatic aging criteria of NF C 33-021 and EN 50483-4 standard codes.
  • Submerged 6kV Isolation Security: Engineered to deliver uncompromised dielectric safety, successfully passing strict flashover breakdown tests exceeding 6 kV while fully submerged in a water bath.
